Feb. 28, 2018 – This summer, the UC Berkeley Labor Center will host the 37th annual western regional Summer Institute on Union Women (SIUW) from July 10-14, 2018 at Sonoma State University. For five days and four nights, the SIUW brings together over 200 diverse dynamic activists from more than 50 unions, worker centers and community organizations in the western states and British Columbia.
This event only comes to California once every four or five years. The organizers are eager to increase participation from women in the Building Trades unions. This is a great opportunity to build leadership and organizing skills among your female members.
The institute also is seeking financial support. Donations of $500 to $5,000 will receive special recognition.
Investing in the next generation of women labor leaders is an investment in a resilient, thriving, powerful labor movement for all workers. Please consider a generous donation and recruiting women from your organization to attend.
